House, mill and valley / Casa, moinho e vale

Here we have the whole set of "ingredients" to make up what one can call a beautiful place: A valley surrounded by mountains, green fields, a river running between rocks, a simple house and mill near the rough stone bridge. It feels like lying down and enjoy the warm heat of the Winter sun on all this grass, so much green and succulent - at least that's what the cows say - than its boring urban relative, mowed to the millimeter. Sweet and nice thoughts... It is curious that the places like this always bring them to the "outside" viewer, when it appears that real live around there may not be at all easy.

A gorgeous, rural image- peaceful and warm. You are right, too, about the unseen hardships of this kind of life, keeping the animals, taking care of the basic chores around the house...but this kind of life close to the land has such great benefits we miss in modern times.

I agree with you, Rob. That's a question that keeps my mind busy quite often. I've dreamed before on living such a kind of life, but my present energy makes me think that missed already that train, so for now I'll keep with the painted dream...

These buildings are great. Another very nice painting.

Thank you, Terry: These are very simple and basic buildings, but the rich textures and colors in the stones make them as beautiful as any palace.
