Torres Vedras - 4º Encontro Internacional de Desenho de Rua / 4th International Urban Sketch Meeting

Tal como no ano passado, estive em Torres Vedras para participar neste que é provavelmente o maior e mais emblemático dos encontros regulares no nosso território. E não obstante a ele acorrerem algumas dezenas de sketchers, a sensação não deixa de ser a de estarmos numa reunião de família, com todo o calor e intimismo que daí emana.
Um fim-de-semana a desenhar intensamente entre amigos que partilham a mesma paixão, aprendendo, partilhando, visitando alguns dos muitos e interessantes lugares destas belíssimas e surpreendentes terras.
Uma vez mais, a organização do André e sua equipa a fazer-nos sentir em casa. Obrigado, um grande abraço e até para o ano!
Just like last year, I've been in Torres Vedras to participate in this meeting, probably the biggest and best known among all that occur in our territory. And despite the fact that some dozen sketchers flock to it, the sensation is still that of being in a family reunion, with all the warmth and intimacy that emanates from it.
A weekend of intensive sketching among friends who share the  same passion, learning and sharing, visiting some of the many and interesting places of this gorgeous and surprising territory.
Once more. the organization by André and its team makiing us feel at home. Thank you, a big hug and until next year!!

9th Urban Sketchers International Symposium

Tive a sorte de ser correspondente no 9º Simpósio Internacional de Urban Sketchers, que teve lugar no Porto entre 18 e 21 do corrente mês, e juntou na cidade mais de 800 desenhadores de 46 nacionalidades.
Tendo sido uma experiência difícil de descrever por palavras, deixo aqui alguns registos de entre muitos que fiz no âmbito do meu trabalho.
O resultado final, assim como o das minhas duas colegas, a Marina e a Rita, duas pessoas talentosas e extraordinárias que passo a contar entre os meus amigos, pode ser visto aqui.
I had the fortune of being a correspondent in the 9th Urban Sketchers International Symposium that took place in Porto between 18 and 21 of the current month, and gathered more than 800 sketchers from 46 countries. 
Having been an experience hard to describe by words, I leave some sketches among many I did in the scope of my work. 
The final result, as well as the one of my fellow colleagues Marina and Rita, two talented and extraordinary persons I count among my friends from now on, can be seen here.

Torres Vedras - 3º Encontro Internacional de Desenho de Rua / 3rd International Urban Sketch Meeting

Três dias de intensa actividade, desenhando de manhã à noite em lugares magníficos de uma terra nova para mim, mas onde me senti como em casa; Um ambiente fantástico pleno de pessoas extraordinárias e talentosas, algumas que já conhecia e outras que adorei conhecer; O desafio de orientar duas oficinas com parcerias “de respeito”, o Simon Taylor e a Isabel Alegria, onde ensinei muito pouco em comparação com o que aprendi em todas as outras; Novas abordagens, novas técnicas, e em alguns casos a “chave” para coisas que já andava com vontade de fazer... E tudo isto com um acolhimento e tratamento cinco estrelas por parte do André e toda a sua equipa, para quem nunca é demais um enorme Obrigado!
Aqui fica uma dúzia de apontamentos dispersos, entre convívio e actividades. E que venha de lá o próximo!
Three days of intensive activity, sketching from morning to night in magnificent locations of a town that was new to me but where I felt at home; A fantastic atmosphere full of extraordinary and talented people, some of whom I knew and others I loved to meet; The challenge of running two workshops with great partners, Simon Taylor and Isabel Alegria, where I teached very little if compared with everything I learned from all the others; New approaches, new techniques and in some cases the “key” to some things I've long wanted to do... And all this with a five star reception from André and his team, for whom a big Thank You is never too much.

The last dive / O último mergulho

Summer belongs to the past, a new season brings signs of change already visible, starting with the temperatures that will no longer invite for many more baths in the river, as are surely realizing those who stubbornly resist, still not believing in the departure of the sunny days. It will be for sure the last dive of the year. Within weeks, the place itself will be outfitted with the "Fall-Winter collection," which works in Nature as opposed to those that line up in shop windows and soon in our imperfect bodies, because it is in the colder days that trees and vineyards go less clothed ...
O Verão já pertence ao passado, os sinais de mudança que a nova estação traz consigo são já visíveis, a começar pelas temperaturas que já não irão convidar a muitos mais banhos no rio, como se estarão decerto a aperceber aqueles que ainda resistem teimosamente, não acreditando ainda na partida dos dias soalheiros. Será, com certeza, o último mergulho do ano. Em poucas semanas, o lugar em si estará vestido com a “colecção Outono-Inverno”, a qual na Natureza funciona ao contrário daquelas que revestem as montras das lojas e em breve os nossos corpos imperfeitos, pois é na altura mais fria que árvores e vinhedos andam com menos roupagem...

Entretanto, tenho o prazer de anunciar que a minha exposição na Casa da Cultura de Marvão se prolongará por Outubro. No mesmo local, entre os dias 1 e 11 daquele mês decorrerá também a Feira do Livro, e de 1 a 5 o município acolhe o “Al-Mossassa”, festival Islâmico, pelo que pretextos não faltam para conhecer aquela vila monumental...
I'am also pleased to announce that my exhibition in Marvão will be extended throughout October. Between the 1st and 11th of that month, the same site will also run the Book Fair, and from 1 to 5, the council welcomes the "Al-Mossassa" Islamic festival, so there's no lack of excuses for a visit to this monumental town...

Durante o mês de Setembro e Outubro (actualização), alguns dos meus trabalhos estarão expostos na Casa da Cultura de Marvão, no distrito de Portalegre.
São cerca de 25 trabalhos, entre alguns já aqui publicados e outros pintados expressamente para o efeito.
Aqui fica o convite, quanto mais não seja como pretexto para uma visita àquela magnífica vila histórica Alentejana, empoleirada no alto de um monte entre sólidas muralhas, e muito justamente candidata a Património Mundial da Unesco.
Aproveito para agradecer à Casa da Cultura o amável convite, e toda a simpatia com que fui recebido.
O trabalho acima é um dos expostos. Aqui ficam também algumas fotos que tirei após a montagem...

During September and October (update), some of my works will be exhibited in the Casa da Cultura (House of Culture) of Marvão.
There are about 25 works, some already posted here and other painted for the event.
So here's the invitation, even if only an excuse for a visit to that wonderful historic village of Alentejo, perched high on a hill between solid walls, and candidate for UNESCO World Heritage Site.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Casa da Cultura for the kind invitation, and all the kindness with which I was received.
