Telhados de ardósia / Slate roofs

Papel Fabriano Artistico cold pressed 18x12,5cm - 300g/m2 (7"x 5" – 140lb)

FELIZ 2013!!!

And so we come to the end of 2012, although with a day in advance; And even if the world did not end up as promised, it was actually quite an unproductive year, during which I worked very slowly.
Therefore, and as a resolution for the coming year, I decided that I will work even less.
HAPPY 2013!!

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 7 / Two rustic cottages - Session 7

The end of the world is not today, after all. It was postponed to give me time to finish this watercolor. What is good news, because at this rate it is likely that the grandchildren of your grandchildren will still be here when that happens: It will be certainly something for them to tell their grandchildren!

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 6 / Two rustic cottages - Session 6

More than one month after this serie's previous post, you should ask: Such a long time and just this tiny advance?
To tell the truth, this can be considered a late post, since meanwhile it has advanced a bit more, but it's true that these days my work rate has been slowed down substantially, not only in this “front”, but also in the one of the smallest works. We shall be patient, that's the way things are: One day you go faster, the next you slow down, or even stop or decide to change the way... I'm not telling it is the case, because I do not even know.

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 5 / Two rustic cottages - Session 5

You know the conversation, don't you? “Slow advance”, “lack of time”, blah blah blah...
But here's the completed drawing. Hopefully, the next post in this series will bring us the first colors.

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 4 / Two rustic cottages - Session 4

A quite fruitful session, to compensate the continuous lack of time over last month. For the drawing to be completed, only the cobbled pavement and a chaotic tangle of ferns and twigs on the lower right corner are missing.

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 3 / Two rustic cottages - Session 3

Now that we are done with the vine foliage and its complex structure, it was time to start with the roof and its irregular tiles, replaced there and there by fiber cement boards. There was still some time for the stonework in the right house.

Duas casas de aldeia - Sessão 2 / Two rustic cottages - Session 2

Segunda sessão do trabalho iniciado neste post.
Second session of the work that started with this post. With the first traces defining all the drawing structure, I immediately proceeded into one of its elements in the foreground, probably the most complex: The vine that covers the street, and the iron structure that sustains it. Although this is a relatively rigorous work – and quite enjoyable, which is curious given the apparent antagonism of those two concepts – I cannot have the pretension to reproduce “scientifically” every single leaf, unless I would be using some method other than my battered sight. So far, it seems that the result of my efforts will reasonably serve the purpose.
