The castle-shaped belvedere / O mirante acastelado

Belvederes and other follies were always part of these mansions built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, by Portuguese emmigrants returned from Brazil that could by this way demonstrate their wealth after many years of hard labour. Many of these "Casas de Brasileiros", or "Brazilianmen's houses" still can be found in Porto and Braga districts, and elsewhere, many of them abandoned or ruined.
Mirantes e outras extravagâncias faziam sempre parte destes casarões construídos nos finais do séc. XIX e início do séc.
