House and windmill / Casa e catavento

Spring arrives, the backyards and gardens are beginning to fill up with color and, lucky me, immediately this kind of image comes to my memory: A small house with garden where flowers are the best company for whom enjoys them, and matching the "iron flower" of much bigger dimensions that brings joy to the backyard patio.

  1. You are so amazing..... The detail in that beautiful windmill, those cats, that one bent top on the fence post. I don't want to say that I want this one too in fear of someone buying this one before I get paid next month.

Have you thought of making greeting cards? I know folks (like me) would love to purchase a set or individual ones (printed off your image of the original) and let other learn and appreciate your work.

  2. Sheila, I've been checking carefully some resources as Blurb, Imagekind and similar in order to produce such kind of material, and even considering a small book.
It may take some time, as I still a bit insecure about resolutions, color matching and that kind of technical issues, but it will definitely come out sooner or later.

  3. A lovely painting to bring in the Spring, Paulo. I see the cats are getting friendly, and the woman looks so content admiring her flowers. Have a great weekend:)

  5. Oh good , you're already working on the project.

I have used Vistaprint.com for notecards from my son's photos and they did a very nice job for a VERY reasonable price.

  7. I found your blog via Nancy at everyphototellsastory. I was admiring your beautiful little town over there, to much vino I believe. It is awesome and decided to visit your blog and wow, that is a great painting. I love the way the home is so inviting and the garden area where she is at just makes me want to be there. I love it. Thanks so much for sharing your great work. I will be back.

  8. Gloria, I like the cheerful and romantic atmosphere of these little houses, and couldn't resist to paint this one as a celebration of the joy of Spring.

  9. The "iron flower" is a wonderful element - and on such a human scale too. Another beautiful work. I was reading the previous comments, and am happy to hear that you are contemplating a book. There are of course various self-publishing sites (Lulu, Shutterfly, Photoworks come to mind), but if you can find a conventional publisher to take on your project, I think it could be a unique venture. I wish you much success with this and all other endeavors.

  10. I am considering all possibilities, Mineke, including your advice as well as others from artists with some previous experience in this field. My present idea will be maybe a self-publishing site for a start, to get some experience, and then let's see what happens. I want to take all my time, and get as much informed as I can before taking further steps.

  11. Olá Paulo,

Ao ver esta pintura, fui acometido de um agradável sorriso.
Talvez não te lembres, mas quando era miúdo, uma das minhas séries preferidas era o Dr. Faísca.
Esta casa fez-me lembrar a série.

    Cumprimentos,

    José

  12. Olá, José,
Creio que me lembro vagamente do "Dr. Faísca". Não era uma série de animação, com bonecos do género stop motion?
Em todo o caso, compreendo a sensação: Estas pequenas casas têm algo que remete para esse imaginário: Um pouco como aquilo a que os Americanos chamam "Gingerbread houses" :)
    Um abraço!!
